Apple held its most important product launch in a decade, with followers around the globe anxiously expecting a game-changing phone to commemorate Apple IPhone’s 10-year anniversary. Apple announced three new phones, increasing buyer indecision by a hundred fold. Over the next month or two, the iOS faithful will have to decide between the iPhone 8, the iPhone 8 Plus and the iPhone X. Let us see where the iPhone 8 and iPhone X comparison leads us to? Is there even a decision to make or is it crystal clear?
Iphone X And Iphone 8 Comparison: Picking Which One And Why?
Price, Size, Features, etc. compared
The iPhone 8 has lost its stage space even before coming into the market, since all eyes are on its swankier sibling, the iPhone X (or iPhone 10). Though iPhone 8 and 8 Plus are iterative improvements over the 7/7 Plus, the iPhone X is something else entirely and has been tagged as the “future of smartphones”. Following are the iPhone X specs in a nutshell:
- Design: 143.6mm x 70.9mm x 7.7mm, 174g, Glass on front and back – surgical grade stainless steel frame, water-resistant IP67, no Home button, Black and silver colour options
- Screen: 5.8-inch HDR OLED edge-to-edge display, 2436 x 1125 pixel resolution (458ppi)
- Specs: Apple A11 Bionic 6-core SoC with Apple GPU, Face ID, Stereo speakers, Fast-charge capable (50% charge in 30 minutes), Wireless charging, iOS 11
- Camera: Dual 12-megapixel camera, f/1.8 and f/2.4 aperture, Dual Optical Image Stabilisation, Faster Image Signal Processor (ISP), Portrait Mode on front and rear camera.
Apple made it a point to highlight how the iPhone X, the most expensive of the lineup, differs from other models. Let us understand the major points of iPhone 8 and iPhone X Difference:
Face ID Unlock for the Selfie Generation
The iPhone X has no Home button and instead relies on a new feature called Face ID to unlock the phone with facial recognition.
Bigger OLED Screen
The iPhone X is only slightly bigger than the iPhone 8, but it has a screen larger than that on the iPhone 8 Plus making it the best of both. This also marks the first time the company has gone for OLED with its phone screens.
Better battery life
Apple’s senior vice president Phil Schiller added that we can now expect another two hours of battery life, as compared with last year’s iPhone 7. No such battery improvements are promised with the iPhone 8 duo, which apparently will be identical to their predecessors.
Wireless Charging (Yes, It is finally here!)
Apple has also packed wireless charging on the iPhone X. This is Qi compatible which means you will be able to use any Qi charger you might already own, although Apple also announced its own pad, the Airpower.
Faster Charging(Too good to be true?)
One thing Apple didn’t mention during the announcements is that the iPhone X comes with fast-charging. That means you get 50% of the iPhone X battery life back from a quick 30-minute charge, very useful if you’re in a hurry.
